// U2 kick off 'Vertigo' tour in San Diego
Three and a half years after the end of the Elevation Tour U2 are finally on tour agian. The band kicked off their 'Vertigo' world tour in San Diego last night. The band played a lot of new songs (eight in total) from the new album 'How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb', but also suprised the audience with three songs from their first album, 'Boy'.

Two days before the start of their new world tour U2 played a dress rehearsal in Los Angeles last night.

// Razorlight supports U2 in Scandinavia
British-Swedish underground rock and roll band Razorlight will support U2 at their concerts in Oslo, Gothenburg and Copenhagen.

Razorlight was formed in the summer of 2002 around 22 year old singer/writer Johnny Borrell. Their sound is perhaps best described as post-punk New Wave music stripped-down to the acoustic as opposed to the synthetic.
// U2 enters Hall of Fame
Last Monday U2 officially entered the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The Irish quartet was welcomed into the Hall by Bruce Springsteen who described U2 as "keepers of some of the most beautiful sonic architecture in the rock-and-roll world." U2.com reports that during his 10-minute induction speech, Springsteen said that U2 is "both a step forward and direct descendants of bands who thought they could shake up the world. This was a band that wanted to lay claim to this world and the next one, too."

// Vertigo tour: 3rd leg announced
U2 have added 33 more dates to their 'Vertigo//2005' World Tour.
Beginning in Toronto on September 12, the tour will continue into December finishing in Portland on the 19th. With the first show in San Diego just weeks away, U2 are set to be on the road just about non-stop until the end of the year.
On the third leg of Vertigo 2005, they will play 3 shows at Madison Square Garden and 2 shows in Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Boston. As well as this, new dates have been confirmed in Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Washington, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Tampa, Atlanta, Ottawa, Montreal, Hartford, Buffalo, Cleveland, St. Louis, Omaha, Salt Lake City and Portland.
"We're really looking forward to this tour," said manager Paul McGuinness. "The show looks and sounds fantastic, its going to be a great year".

// Even more support bands: Keane and Franz Ferdinand
Keane and Franz Ferdinand have been added to the ever-growing list of support bands on U2's Vertigo world tour: Keane will be main support to U2 at shows in Munich, Nice, Barcelona and Lisbon. Scottish rockers Franz Ferdinand are confirmed to play support in San Sebastian and Madrid.
Already confirmed to play with U2 at other shows in Europe are The Killers and Snow Patrol. Kings of Leon play support on the North American leg.
