// Sir Bono!

Bono is set to receive an honorary knighthood by Queen Elizabeth II for "his services to the music industry and for his humanitarian work".

The Queen has appointed Bono to be an honorary 'Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire', but Bono is not allowed to call himself 'Sir Bono' because he is Irish. Only British nationals are allowed to use the title 'Sir'.

Bono will receive the honour in Dublin early in the new year, the British ambassador to Ireland will conduct the ceremony.
