The Queen has appointed Bono to be an honorary 'Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire', but Bono is not allowed to call himself 'Sir Bono' because he is Irish. Only British nationals are allowed to use the title 'Sir'. Bono will receive the honour in Dublin early in the new year, the British ambassador to Ireland will conduct the ceremony. And if you pay close attention you can even spot the members of U2 in the audience, cheering on their heroes. // Vertigo Tour ends in HawaiiTwenty months after the first concert the Vertigo tour ended last night in Honolulu, Hawaii.
For the final concert U2 had invited some special guests: opening the show were Rocko and the Devils, the band formed around U2 roadie Rocko Reedy. After that it was Pearl Jam's turn. During the concert Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong joined U2 for 'The Saints Are Coming', and a lucky fan got to the play piano during 'Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses'. The entire list of this year's nominees is available on the Grammy website. The awards will be handed out on Sunday February 11, 2007 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. It is not yet known if U2 will attend the ceremony. Last year U2 were the big winners of the evening when they won 5 Grammy Awards. |
