// U2 for babies

U2 songs have been covered many times before but 'Baby Rock Records' is taking things to a whole new level...

U2 lullabies

The company is releasing 'Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions of U2' which transforms 11 well known U2 hits into lullabies for babies, saying that their "cascading melodies and soundscapes are a perfect foundation for these heavenly lullabies".

Surprisingly even a song like 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' apparently qualifies as a perfect foundation for a lullaby, download a MP3 sample here to judge for yourself.

The full tracklisting (with MP3 samples) is available on the Baby Rock Records website.

// Remastered albums out this spring?

U2 will release remastered versions of their first six albums this spring, according to the Italian rock music magazine Buscadero.

All albums (Boy, October, War, The Unforgettable Fire, The Joshua Tree and Rattle & Hum) are said to contain bonus tracks, The Joshua Tree will be released as a double disc Deluxe Edition.

When U2 were recording The Joshua Tree there were plans to release the album as a double-album with up to 18 songs but obviously these plans were later changed, and many songs which didn't make it to the album were later released as b-sides on the singles.

So is U2 planning to re-release The Joshua Tree as a double album as they originally had envisioned, or are they simply releasing the remastered album, with some b-sides on a bonus disc?

Be aware that this is only a rumor right now, nothing has been officially confirmed yet.

Would you buy these albums?

// No shows planned this year, says U2.com

U2 has no live plans for this year.

The Vertigo tour has just ended and U2 is working on their new album so this news is hardly surprising, but U2.com is warning against scammers who are trying to sell tickets for shows in London and Paris later this year.

When Bono was recently asked by Jo Whiley about touring he said that it would probably be a couple of years before U2 embarks on a major tour again.

// Aerosmith to cover U2

According to this report the American rock band Aerosmith will record a U2 song this year.

Surprisingly enough they've chosen to cover the U2 oldie 'Seconds', a song from the 1983 album 'War'.

Aerosmith will be saving the song from oblivion: the last time U2 played the song was in 1985, on the Unforgettable Fire tour. The song has not been included on any of the three compilation albums that U2 released the past years.

// A 2nd Window in the Skies music video

U2 have made another music video for their new single 'Window in the Skies'.

Where the first video focused on other artists, the second video is all about U2. It offers a 'dizzying kaleidoscope of imagery from the story of U2 themselves, everything from family photos to iconic album sleeves' as u2.com puts it.

Watch the video on the video page, where you'll also find more than 60 other U2 music videos!

// Bono wants to take U2 to the next level

In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1's Jo Whiley Bono gave some insight on where U2 is headed with the next U2 album.

Bono said that the release of U218 Singles marked the end of a period and that the band is at a very important junction:

Our band has certainly reached the end of where we've been at for the last couple of albums. I want to see what else we can do with it, take it to the next level; I think that's what we've got to do.

Where the 'next level' will take U2 remains to be seen, but it might sound very different compared to the last U2 albums according to Bono:

We're gonna continue to be a band, but maybe the rock will have to go; maybe the rock has to get a lot harder. But whatever it is, it's not gonna stay where it is.

There's real power there, in voice and the acoustic guitar. I would like to do a couple of tunes in that direction, with just a lot of space around the voice and I'd like to strip things down. That's something I'd be very interested in at the moment.

An MP3 of Whiley's interview with Bono can be downloaded from the BBC website. (Probably for a limited time only, so get it while it's there)
