All nominations were for Vertigo, the first single from the new album 'How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb'. The album itself was not yet egible for any awards, but it will be in 2006.

When accepting the award The Edge dedicated it to his sick daughter by saying "This is for my little daughter Sian". Larry Mullen later apologized to fans for the chaotic pre-sales for the upcoming Vertigo world tour. Earlier that evening the band had performed 'Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own'.
