Wednesday evening CBS aired 'I Walk The Line: A Night For Johnny Cash', an all-star tribute to Johnny Cash, featuring performances from U2, Sheryl Crow, Jerry Lee Lewis, Foo Fighters, Norah Jones and others.

U2 were introduced by Joaquin Phoenix, who plays Cash in the movie 'Walk The Line', which opens in theaters this Friday.

U2 perform 'The Wanderer' on the CBS special 'I Walk The Line - A Night For Johnny Cash'

Phoenix said:

When Johnny Cash passed in 2004 U2's Bono said this of him: "Every man can relate to him, but nobody could be him. To be that extraordinary, and that ordinary was his real gift". U2 knew and loved Johnny Cash and wanted to be here with us tonight, but since they're on tour we're going to them instead. To perform 'The Wanderer' which they recorded with Johnny. The extraordinary, and ordinary, U2.

'The Wanderer' is a track from U2's 1993 album 'Zooropa', featuring Johnny Cash on lead vocals. It was the first live performance of the song ever.
