Achtung ya'll! It turns out that there are 3 very nice easter eggs (hidden videos) on the bonus disc of the 'U2 Zoo TV live from Sydney' DVD:
- Egg #1: A four minute time lapse sequence which shows the stage being built
- Egg #2: Emergency destruct sequence, a short 2 minute video.
- Egg #3: Interference documentary, 25 minutes. This is all the "Interference" from the 1992 Achtung Baby VHS video.
Note that these easter eggs are all on the bonus disc which comes with the 'Deluxe Edition'! There are no easter eggs on the concert DVD!
// The easy way
If your DVD player allows you to navigate the DVD chapters then simply play chapter 4 for the time lapse video, chapter 8 for the emergency destruct sequence and chapter 9 for the interference documentary.
// The hard way
If that won't work then there's also an alternative way to access the easter eggs. It's actually not that hard, it's just a bit difficult to explain... You will need a remote with up/down/left/right arrows and you need to be able to enter numbers.
Access easter egg #1:
- When you're in the MAIN MENU place the cursor over the word EXTRAS
- Press RIGHT on your remote
- Press DOWN
- Now the cursor will move to the yellow top of the antenna. Press ENTER
- A menu with ABORT should appear (see image below)
- Enter the following numbers on your remote: 2 7 1 1 (pause briefly after each number)
- The time lapse movie should start playing
Access easter egg #2:
- When you're in the MAIN MENU go to the EXTRAS menu
- In the EXTRAS MENU move the cursor to DVD CREDITS
- Press DOWN
- Press RIGHT
- A very small 'no entry' sign will appear to the right, immediately press ENTER before it disappears agian
- A menu with ABORT should appear (see image above)
- Enter the following numbers on your remote: 1 9 9 3 (pause briefly after each number)
- The emergency destruct sequence should start playing
- When you're in the MAIN MENU go to the DOCUMENTARIES MENU
- Press PLAY ALL
- Watch all the documentaries, or simply fast forward through them
- Also let all the credits play
- You should be returned to the DOCUMENTARIES MENU
- Move the cursor to SUBTITLES
- Press DOWN
- Press LEFT
- A very small 'no entry' sign will appear to the left, immediately press ENTER before it disappears agian
- The interference documentary will start to play
