U2 and Green Day gave a special performance in New Orleans last night to celebrate the reopening of the Louisiana Superdome.

The evening marked the return of the New Orleans Saints to the Superdome, after Hurricane Katrina had heavily damaged the huge stadium. U2 and Green Day played a brief set in the pre-game show.
First The Edge joined Green Day to play 'Wake Me Up When September Ends', then the rest of U2 joined in for a medley of 'House of the Rising Sun', 'The Saints are Coming' and 'Beautiful Day'. Watch a video of the performance on Rhapsody.com.
U2 and Green Day have recored a cover of 'The Saints Are Coming' by Scottish act the Skids. The track will benefit Music Rising, an organization that replaces instruments lost by musicians as a result of Hurricane Katrina. Music Rising was co-founded by The Edge.
